Photo Essay - Southeast Sicily
All of the photographs you see on Farm Table Italy are my own. I thought it would be fun to curate them into thematic “photo essays” and share them. (In the future, I will also make them available for purchase if anyone is interested.)
First stop: southeast Sicily. This mountainous region encompasses one of Europe’s most active volcanos (Mt. Etna) as well as the resort town of Taormina; further down the coast is the regional capital of Catania and then the historically rich city of Siracusa. Head up into the hills toward Caltigirone (with its famous ceramic steps of Santa Maria del Monte) and beyond to some of the most famous Roman mosaics in the world at Villa Romana del Casale. The area is dotted with wonderful agriturismi where you can experience traditional Sicilian food & culture. We will return to Sicily many, many times.
