Travel Planning Services
Let me help you plan your trip to Italy! I embrace an approach that focuses on your goals & objectives. Your trip might be a once-in-a-lifetime voyage abroad or it might be just your latest trip to Italy. Regardless, I try to introduce you to locations, events, and opportunities you might not have considered where it fits in with your plans. No preplanned itineraries because you’re not one-size-fits-all … and neither is your trip. But I’m opinionated and I’ll tell you what I think about things you may have on your list. I’ll give you a lot to think about but ultimately I want you to have the type of trip you really want.
With all that said, here’s my philosophy about leisure travel. A good friend of mine and I used to talk about travel as a three-act play. Each act is rewarding in itself albeit in very different ways; and each builds upon the others.
Act I is planning. Obviously, this involves identifying the where, when, and how of your trip. But much more than simply timing and logistics, Act I is anticipation. You start visualizing what your travel will feel like … and imagining the coming Act II. If you’re anything like me, the planning, preparation and anticipation is as much fun as the trip itself. Try to embrace the excitement and nervousness that you feel; the looking forward is rewarding in itself!
Your bags are packed and your flights are booked and the day has come. Act II is the journey itself; where all the planning comes to life. Maybe you have only been on a plane a handful of times or maybe you experience air travel twice a week for work. Either way, nothing is quite as exciting and fun as beginning a journey. My advice is plan, prepare and then don’t worry. Travel is never perfect! Expect mistakes. The unexpected will intervene. Things will go wrong. Weather, airlines, trains etc. may let you down. But try to remember that your trip is greater than the sum of its parts. If you have done your homework and planned well, you can adjust to pretty much anything that comes up.
Act III is what I would call memorialization. These are the moments captured in your mind, in your camera, in a notebook that you carried with you that you bring home and that carry forward with you.
I have traveled all over Italy. Planes, trains, cars, buses, boats … you name it, I probably have some experience. I have also been all across the peninsula in virtually every region and in both cities and in the countryside. From Torino to Lecce … from Siracusa to Trieste … or from Rome to Florence, I would love to learn about your travel plans and provide counsel based on my own knowledge and extensive experience. Reach out and let’s talk about how I can help!
